Can I use TryBooking for free?

TryBooking is completely free for free events - there are no hidden charges, and you still get access to all our features.

For paid events, we only charge a small fee when you sell tickets. You can choose to pass this fee on to your ticket purchasers, letting you use TryBooking at no cost to you.

How much does it cost to use TryBooking?

We give you the choice whether to take payments through our payment gateway, or link to your Stripe account. We charge different fees depending on what option you choose.

Payments processed by TryBooking

  • 5% processing fee (charged to the event organiser by default)
  • 15p ticket fee (charged to the ticket purchaser by default)

As an Event Organiser, you have total control over who pays which fees - so you can choose whether to pass them on to your ticket purchaser, or absorb them fully.

Payments processed by Stripe

  • 75p ticket fee
  • Stripe fees: currently 1.5% + 20p (as of 26th March 2025)

As an Event Organiser, you can choose whether to absorb the ticket fee or pass it on to your ticket purchasers. You can't pass the Stripe fees on.

Do I need to pay anything upfront?

No, there are no upfront costs - just bring your event idea, and you're ready to go!

What type of events can I use TryBooking for?

TryBooking is designed to support a wide range of events - big or small, free or paid. You can use our event ticketing platform to sell tickets online for any event, whether that’s a theatrical performance, school play, charity fundraiser or another great event idea.

Can I sell tickets in person for my event?

Yes, our Tap To Pay Box Office app makes it easy to take payments for and issue tickets in person. You can accept payments via cash or contactless card payment, without requiring any additional hardware.

Does TryBooking offer support?

Yes, we offer award winning UK based support via phone, email and live chat.

You can also access online support from our Learning Centre, which has step-by-step guides on using all our features and tutorials for the most common event setups.

Can I customise my event pages and emails?

Yes, you have full control over the design of your event homepage - add images, videos and even animated backgrounds! Our calendar feature also makes it easy for your patrons to see all available session dates.

You can also send personalised emails before, during and after your event using our Email Buyers feature. This is available to all event organisers at no extra cost.

How do I get paid for tickets sold?

Once you start selling tickets, funds (minus any fees you’ve chosen to cover as the event organiser) will be added to your TryBooking account balance.

To withdraw funds, simply add a UK bank account. We’ll send a small verification amount before you can request a transfer.

If your account is linked to Stripe, ticket sales (minus Stripe’s fees and any TryBooking fees you’ve chosen to cover) will be deposited directly into your Stripe account.

Do you offer discounted pricing for non-profits?

We believe running events should be affordable for everyone. That’s why we keep our fees low for all event organisers, including charities, PTAs, and other non profits.

To help maximise your fundraising, you can choose to pass our low processing fees on to ticket buyers - allowing your non profit to use TryBooking at no cost.

Do I need a payment processor to use TryBooking?

No, you don’t need a third party payment processor to take payments through TryBooking. Our standard fees are fully inclusive of all payment processing.

If you wish to receive payments directly to your bank account, you can connect your TryBooking account to Stripe to receive payments directly into your Stripe account. When using Stripe, we charge a flat 75p ticket fee.

How secure is the site?

TryBooking is fully compliant with industry-leading security protocols to protect your data.

All stored data is encrypted using industry-standard encryption algorithms, and we are fully PCI-compliant for payment security. We never store full credit card details - only the last four digits are retained for reference.

To safeguard your information, we implement multiple layers of security, including multi-factor authentication, secure website connections on all pages, and firewalls to prevent unauthorised access. All data is securely hosted in the UK.
